cs103. Imperfect: wanting bifolia A1.8 and D1.8. Contemporary armorial calf binding, blind-tooled, with arms and motto ("honi soit qui mal y pense") on the front cover, a standing human figure next to an anchor within an arch (with the words "Hope is ..." stamped on the base) on the back cover, and remains of clasps; wanting the endpapers; stored in a case. The twelve tables survive, with remnants of manuscript markings; all tables perfect, except one lacking a section of coating. A3,4 mutilated, affecting text. Provenance: inscribed on the tables: "Robert Bydall"; "Richard ffynn (?)"; "John By[?]"; 1902 Folger purchase from J&J Leighton, London ("Catalogue of early printed and other interesting books ...," lot 3)
