Collection of anthems by British composers; copied in early 18th century. Scored for voices and basso continuo, and some works also include music for strings. Attributed composers are John Blow, Henry Purcell, Pietro Antonio Fiocco, Morgan Harris, Thomas Tudway, Christopher Tye, Thomas Tallis, Pelham Humfrey, Jeremiah Clarke, William Turner, William Lawes, John Weldon and Henry Aldrich. Aldrich's piece The beauty O Israel is modeled on Michael Wise's anthem How are the mighty fallen (Part I, p. 33-40); and his piece Full is modeled on Giovanni Pierluigi Palestrina's four-voice motet Docto bonus et amicus Dei
