Depicts eleven ages of man, starting in infancy and then depicting every decade from 10 to 100. Each figure stands on one of eleven steps rising up over an archway, with the 50 year old man at the peak. Each step is decorated with the decade number and an animal, with a couplet describing why the animal is appropriate for that age. Bottom right and left corner have verses on scrolls held by skeletons. Under the archway are three women representing fates. Beneath the steps but above the archway are a putto and a skeleton. The putto holds a jug, which the skeleton has broken with a long stick so that liquid is pouring out
Notes
General notes
Date based on John Garrett's trading dates (see British Book Trade Index). Possibly a reissue of a plate pub. by Thomas Jenner. Antony Griffiths suggests of the Jenner print that the style of dress of the men suggests a date in the 1630s (see The Print in Stuart Britain, 1998, no. 92)
Folger print is not colored
