The Aston family owned Tixall Hall, near Stafford, and was passed onto the Clifford family when Barbara Aston, the daughter of James Aston, the fifth Lord Aston of Forfar, married Thomas Clifford in 1762
Attribution to Walter Aston, 2nd Lord Aston of Forfar, based on signed note dated 1666 which refers to his brother Herbert Aston of Cotton
