Summary
Contemporary scribal copy. The letter, an apparent forgery, warns Catholics to "desist from making such offers of men towardes this Northerne expedicion" (i.e. Charles I's campaign to bring order and obedience to Covenanting Scots), forbids special contributions, and requests that the Clergy "desist from that foolishe nay father illiterate and childish custome of distinction in the protestant and puritane doctrine."
