History: Drawing is a study for an ink wash drawing which was reproduced as a photogravure for the 'Darley Gallery of Shakespearean Illustration' published by Stoddart in New York and Philadelphia, 1884. The 1888 Bryant edition of Shakespeare, published by Amies, also contained the photogravure. FSL has the original wash drawing for which this study was made (ART Box D221 no.42) as well as copies of the resulting photogravure (ART Inv. 448 or ART Vol f80 and PR 2752 1888e Sh.Col.)
