Summary
James II stands in the center of a group including Father Petre and Cardinal Furstenberg, the words "Me miserum quorsum me vertar" issuing from his mouth. He holds the hand of Louis XIV, who stands behind James and points his sword at Emperor Leopold and his generals. An arch behind this group is decorated with scenes of cities being attacked and three medallions labeled "Parturient monter", "Magnis excidit ausis", and "Tegens God ist quaat te vegten." Four heads on pikes are visible through the arch. On the ground before James' feet are an open book, two chests full of coins, and a number of sacks, one of which is open and spilling coins. In the middle ground, Father Petre holds the Prince of Wales as two monks and two Quakers look on. A bare-breasted woman is seated on the ground before them. Further in the background, William of Orange has landed on the coast with his army and fleet of ships behind him
