Artist: The Folger collection has three works by a Henry Jeayes, two of which are engravings, the other being a watercolor. These items are all landscape subjects rather than genre works and it is difficult to detect any similarity in style. (Another ex.ill. Shakespeare contains numerous watercolors by H. Jeayes which are in the process of being cataloged (PR 2752 1807c copy 4) Drawing is not labeled, nor signed. In brown ink in the margin (possibly in the hand of the grangerizer) is the note 'Reduced, copied and colour'd by H. Jeayes History: Although the note in the margin indicates that this item is taken after another work, I have been unable to locate a similar illustration in the Folger collection or in works on Shakespeare in art Provenance: Item has been added to volume 3 of an extra illustrated copy of the 1802 Boydell edition of Shakespeare's Works. Rosalind (dressed as Ganymede) is on his right arm and Celia stands left of him.
