'Shuter as Falstaff' in pencil underneath History: Watercolor is after an engraving by Thomas Parkinson for a plate to Bell's edition of Shakespeare, 1776. Engraving is listed in Harv. cat. of dram. ports. as #6 under Shuter, the Folger copy of the engraving is ART File S562 no.1 Provenance: Item is contained in an extra-illustrated volume of the Daly edition of Merry wives of Windsor, as arranged for presentation at Daly's Theatre January 1886. The volume was purchased by the Folgers from the auction of the Augustin Daly collection held by order of his executors through the American Art Galleries in 1900. According to the sales catalog, item no.736, the book was inlaid to folio by Augustus Toedteberg and is a unique copy
