Croiset van Uchelen, "The mysterious writing-master Clemens Perret and his two copy-books," Quaerendo, Vol. 17 (1987), pp. 3-44 Engraved throughout. Each plate has ornamental border. The engraved title page is foliated I. On the final leaf is a privilege, naming Christophe Plantin as exclusive publisher for six years Title and plate 34 signed by Cornelius de Hooghe, who probably designed the writing samples only. The designer of the decorative borders remains unknown, although they have sometimes been attributed to Jan Vredeman de Vries. Cf. Becker, Voet
