Summary
M.a.165 contains mainly extracts from Pope, including the whole of "The Rape of the Lock," but also some other extracts. Bound in are two printed books, De-La-Cour's A prospect on poetry, 1734, and Pope's An essay on criticism, 1709, cataloged separately. M.a.166 contains, as its binder's title states, a number of pieces by John Pomfret, also many by other persons, mostly not identified, but including some by Pope. The date is wholly conjectural; the extracts are almost entirely from 18th century works, the latest being Samuel Johnson's Journey to the Western Islands, first published in 1775
