On back is written in ink: ... Stratford Church Drawg by W H Pyne. Dr ... in black, George Stevens Green, D. Garrick Scarlet and black stockings usual costume, Albany Wallace purple'. No signature on drawing itself Provenance: Item has been added to a volume which is described by a bookseller's catalog entry glued to the book's flyleaf as 'Knight's Land We Live In : the Chapters on Stratford-on-Avon, Windsor, with Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor, and Edinburgh ... used by Charles Knight when visiting the respective places, and bought at his death by Charles Dickens whose Library lapel it contains.' This information is doubtful since Dickens died three years before Knight. The book does, however, bear the bookplate of Dickens's Library, dated 1870.
