Artist: Identification taken from signature and inscription inside volume. Picture is copied from a known portrait and is painted with the minature technique, lacking any identifying traits to link it to Rossetti's style of painting Bust portrait, oval, protected by glass, set into the front cover of a book binding. To left, looking front, signed above right shoulder History: Taken after Droeshout portrait of Shakespeare, the frontispiece to the First Folio Provenance: Inset in frontcover of a volume of Shakespeare's Poems, 1709, containing Venus and Adonis, Tarquin and Lucrece, etc. Volume bears inscription from D.G. Rossetti to William Joyce, also Joyce's bookplate.
