Summary
One leaf (possibly from an actor's notebook) showing schedule for the 1824-25 season in Lancaster, Whitehaven and Manchester, with notes of roles played and comments on performances, particularly with regards to "bad houses" and applause. Several of the roles are from Shakespeare, including Hamlet, Richard III, Othello, Iago, Macbeth, Ghost (to Young's Hamlet), Hotspur (with C. Kemble as Falstaff), Iago (with Kean as Othello), and Prospero
Notes
General notes
W.A. Myers attributed the manuscript to a William Salter, but could possibly be James Salter, who was active on the Liverpool stage in the early 1820s. Attribution based on note regarding April 11 performance of Rolla: "Enthusiastic reception & applause throughout. Curtain fell with cries of 'Bravo Salter.'" Formerly Folger MS Add 609 Purchased from Winifred A. Myers, December 1971
