Edition statement from volume half-titles Stereotyper and printer information from v. 4 colophon Vernor, Hood and Sharpe produced three similar issues printed from the same stereotypes of the 1809 Plays of William Shakespeare: one issue in duodecimo format, two variant issues in octavo format. This octavo issue measures approximately 20 cm long and 3.5 cm thick; the first leaf of every signature is signed and designates the volume number on the direction line; v. 3 lacking colophon. The other octavo issue measures approximately 22 cm long and 2 cm thick; with some of the first leaves of each signature signed with volume numbers designated on direction lines, and some unsigned and/or undesignated; v. 3 with colophon bearing Wilson's address Each volume with vol. half-title and vol. title page; each play with a divisional title and an illustration Some account of the life, &c. by Rowe; Johnson's Preface; and Farmer's Essay on the learning of Shakespeare in v. 1
