(1) Addressed to Charles Kean. Addressed from the Theatre Royal Weymouth and dated Octr. 11, 1851. Requests an engagement under Kean once he re-opens the Princess's Theatre. (2) Addressed from 10 Bond St., Weymouth. Letter is addressed "Sir." Thanks the recipient for the advice. He will study and practice hard till Easter, when he will communicate with the recipient again. "Oct. 51" written at the top of first leaf in another hand. In both letters Sothern signs himself as his stage name, "Douglas Stewart."
