In the states catalogued here (the first and the third), the imprint has "printed for Nath. Crouch". The second state, catalogued separately, has "printed by Nath. Crouch". The first state may be identified by the following: it has an early state of the frontispiece map lacking names of places along the coast; on p. 184 chapter 17 is misnumbered chapter 19; on p. 189 the running head has "propest" in place of "prospect". The third state has the following characteristics: the map is in the later state including place names along the coast; on p. 184 chapter 17 is properly numbered; on p. 189 the running head has "prospect" correctly spelled
