Signatures: pi² a*² B*-L*²; chi¹ a² B² ²B-H² Part 2, "The loves of Mars & Venus" by Peter Motteux has separate dated title page, pagination, and register. According to its preface it "was written to be inserted into a very short farce written by Mr. Ravenscroft, called The Anatomist or the Sham Doctor" The edition of "The loves of Mars & Venus" published with "The Anatomist" is a reissue of 1696 edition (Wing M2954) with the following alterations: the first 2 lines and the last 2 lines of the title page have been reset; the prologue and epilogue, which were on leaf b1r, have been omitted since they appear in the preliminaries of "The anatomist" (*a1v-*a2r); the balance of the preliminaries are imposed differently: A1 (title page) is a single leaf, the original A2 and a1 are now a gathering signed a, and the original a2 and b2 are now a gathering signed B. In the 1697 reissue of "The loves of Mars & Venus" (Wing M2955) the preliminaries are identical to those described here, and it too may have been issued with "The anatomist"
