Paper is cut to the shape of a tombstone. Item is neither labeled nor signed Provenance: Item has been glued on p. 102 of the 21st volume of a 36 volume extra illustrated edition of Shakespeare. The drawing has been added to the text of Julius Caesar. For further information on volume and provenance see entry for "VanAssen, Benedictus Antonio. Three hooded figures." Subject: Drawing pictures a woman in ancient dress standing beside a tombstone (which bears the words: "PACIS/ORBIS/TERRA/RVM"). On the ground, next to the stone, are shields, armor and other paraphernalia of war. The woman is holding a palm in one hand and what appears to be a torch in the other, over the pile of warstuffs. There are five figures pictured in the back right of the drawing: four children (2 naked and 2 half clothed) and one clothed adult. The figures are waving their arms, possibly dancing.
