The catechism was probably not actually composed by Hamilton; cf. DNB, v. 8, p. 1075. It is supposed by some to have been written by John Winram; cf. DNB, v. 21, p. 671 and page xvii of this book "The two-penny faith" was Hamilton's Godlie exhortatioun."
