First English translation; the original Dutch "De Americansche zeeroovers" (v. 1) was published at Amsterdam, 1678 The1681 Spanish translation of Exquemelin's adds new material quite freely and without acknowledgment, and mistranslates the Dutch frequently, while this English translation of 1684 appears to be as much a translation of the Spanish edition, including most of its deviations from the Dutch original (Wikipedia entry for Alexandre Exquemelin, accessed 8 May 2014) Volume 2 has title page: Bucaniers of America.
