Notes
General notes

Cartoon was published on page 101 of Punch, volume CXL (January 11, 1911) The 1911 Parliament Act restricted the ability of the House of Lords to delay money bills (bills dealing with taxation or government spending), and prevented the Lords from vetoing some public bills, redrawing the balance of power between the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The act was passed in April 1911 following a general election in December 1910, after several years of gridlock in the Houses of Parliament. The general election enabled H.H. Asquith to remain Prime Minister and push through the Parliament Act Also available as a digital reproduction
