Summary
A number of the letters refer to Swinburne's quarrel with "Sham Shakespeareans," specifically F.J. Furnivall, whom Swinburne calls "Flunkiwall Brothelsbank" in (9). In addition, (2) concerns Grosart's edition of Herbert; (5-7) discuss Grosart's work on Willoughby and Dorrell; (11) mentions an essay Swinburne wrote on the late Charles Reade; (13) indicates Swinburne's plan to send Grosart send a copy of his Ben Jonson; (15) expresses thanks for Grosart's "invaluable paper on Titus Andronicus;" (16), a fragment, refers to a proposal for "two volumes of the new Spenser & Daniel yearly."
